Oh, I certainly prefer fantasy to superhero, I just can't bring myself to see the Thrones stuff (or whatever it's called) as fantasy.
Fiction, certainly, but only marginally more 'fantasy' than The Tudors meets the Sopranos. :/
I know I'm in the wildly small minority there, though, so I'm still glad that any fantasy series is getting made into a television show. Maybe if they do well enough it'll continue to open up the possibilities for others to get the treatment.
And who knows, maybe I'll enjoy the show despite my distaste for the books. It might work better for me as a visual presentation than a literary one. I'll certainly give it a try. :)

If they were going to do a tv treatment for a GRRM property, I wish it'd been Wild Cards. It'd be like Heroes + Trainspotting.

I didn't like Wild Cards, so I can't agree with you. I'm much more of a fantasy person than a superhero person.
